Crawl Space Mold Remediation in Athens, Gainesville & Augusta, GA
Kill the mold. Then fix what fed it.
Mold grows on wet wood. We measure how wet, treat what is growing, and take away the water it lives on.
22.2%
Moisture in the wood of one Georgia crawl space.
Thresholds: USDA Forest Products Laboratory, Wood Handbook. We take this reading on every free inspection.
Treating mold alone is half a fix.
Kill the mold and leave the damp, and it is back by the next humid season. So we do both halves.
- Remove mold-damaged material
- Treat the joists and subfloor that hold your floor up
- Work clean, so spores are not spread through the house
- Drainage if water gets in
- A barrier over the dirt and sealed vents
- A dehumidifier where the air stays damp
Then the wood dries below the line and stays there.
Where mold starts: wet batts, failed plastic.
Insulation that has soaked up water and plastic that has torn both hold the damp that feeds mold. Both photos are from our jobs.

“Michael and Dustin came out on Saturday 9-5-26 and performed crawlspace work and installing a Dehumidifier. Both owners were on site and complete the work in the same day.”
“No over selling, just pricing what you actually need for your individual crawlspace needs.”
“After interviewing multiple vendors I selected Crawlspace Doctors. Their pricing was very reasonable, and the results are excellent.”
Measure first. Treat second.
Mold jobs go wrong when someone sprays and leaves. Ours run in this order.
- 01
The Full Checkup
We read the wood and the air, look at every joist with a light, and photograph what is growing and where the water comes from.
- 02
The Straight Diagnosis
You see the readings and the photos. If the space is dry and it was a one-time event, a lighter scope may be all you need.
- 03
The Dry-Out
We treat the mold, then fix the moisture source the plan calls for, so the wood can dry below the line.

The Aftercare

Mold questions
It can affect indoor air quality, since air from the crawl space rises into the rooms above it. We are not doctors, but we can tell you that a musty, moldy crawl space is not something to leave alone.
Not if the moisture is fixed, which is the whole point of how we work. Remediation without solving the dampness is a temporary result. That is why we inspect the drainage and vents, not just the visible growth.
Yes. If the space is still damp we will tell you honestly that the mold is likely to return. If it is otherwise dry and it was a one-time event, treating the mold may be all you need. The readings settle it.
It depends on how much material is affected and what is driving the moisture. You get a written number after a free inspection, with photos, and an honest read on whether you need the full treatment or something lighter.
Most mold comes back because the air stays damp. That part is a dehumidifier or a sealed space.
